7 WAYS TO MAKING WALKING FUN

Let’s face it, no matter how good something is for you, sometimes it can seem boring. If you are having trouble getting into it, try one of these ideas to make it more enjoyable.

  • Find New Scenery – Giving your eyes and mind something different to see can help make the time fly. Try walking around a historical neighborhood or walking on a mountain trail.

  • Pick Up Trash – If you want to feel even better after your walk, help pick up the trash in your neighborhood. This will slow your pace, but it’s an excellent way to get in the steps you need while also doing something great for the environment.

  • Reward Yourself – Sometimes we need something to remember why we’re getting up and exercising when we’re tired and sore. Reward yourself with something you love, like a massage or a round of golf. When you hit your milestones, these rewards will make them extra special and motivate you to push forward.

  • Track Your Progress – It’s always hard to see progress day to day, but when you track it, you get to see the results right away! Take your starting weight and measurements and jot them down or add them to an app. Periodically check up on your stats from the steps you took, to the trails you followed, to the way it’s affecting your body.

I hope you try one of these ideas. Don’t forget to do things like park far from the entrances, walk to the store instead of Ubering, and incorporate walking into every part of your life when you can instead of using modern conveniences. Over time, you’ll reach your goals!
